Best results are obtained if The Green Cloth is hand washed with detergent or soap prior to first use. Do not use bleach or fabric softener and insure that detergent contains no additives such as color guard, fabric guard and is not sold as preserving color or clothing, as these may coat the fibers of The Green Cloth and rear it useless. It is recommended that you hand wash The Green Cloth rather than machine-wash it. Before each subsequent use, thoroughly saturate The Green Cloth with water and wring once to remove excess water.

Carpet, upholstery and other fabric or porous surfaces:
Work in different directions, applying pressure to stains. Please remember that as The Green Cloth begins to dry out it will lose effectiveness, so rinse it often and keep it wet while in use.

Wood and other grainy surfaces:
Clean with the grain using only enough pressure to remove stains to avoid wearing off the finish.
